I am taking an online political science class and the teacher gives us questions and we have to find the answer. so this was the first question:
The second paragraph of the Declaration of Independence begins, “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal,…” How was the term ‘men’ interpreted circa 1776? How has this interpretation changed in present day America?
and this was someones answer:
The term “Men” was interpreted as men, women, and children with no stipulation on race or ethnic background.This interpretation has changed in present day America because of injustice and inequality faced by minority or ethnic groups across America. This term to many especially in the black community means that if your not white then your considered inferior and thus, not considered equal.SHEESH!
Then there was this question:
In the election of 2000, Al Gore received more of the popular vote than any other candidate, yet he lost the election. This has happened to three other presidential candidates in American history. Can you name one?
